History
The "BONDIBarefoot" was first run in 2003 and has quickly developed into one of Australia's most unique running events. Run over 3 distances - , 10km, 4km, and the Barefoot bolt. The event attracted over 400 runners last year and continues to grow in popularity.
Parking
Bondi Beach provides metered parking in the Park Drive and ticketed parking in Queen Elizabeth Drive. However as these event days bring a lot of competitors and spectators it is recommended you catch public transport.
Public Transport
Bondi Beach provides great public transport options. There are a number of Bus Services (333, 365, 380, 381, L82), running every 10 mins to/from Bondi Junction from Circular Quay and Central Railway Station. Bondi Junction Railway Station is located at the end of the Eastern Suburbs railway line with a regular service to Martin Place and Town Hall and Central Railway Stations.
Can I wear footwear in the race ?
Yes you can wear shoes or other footwear if you wish. You can even wear "flippers" if you think they will help.
Spectators
The promenade is the best place to view the run, it means you can also cheer the competitors as they start and finish which is very much appreciated!
Beach safety & first aid
North Bondi is one of Australia's premier surf lifesaving clubs, and prides itself on keeping Bondi beach safe for all those who visit. The BONDIBarefoot is no exception, and we will have 3 aid stations spaced along the course with qualified Doctors on hand to assist as well as our experienced lifesavers.
How do I enter?
You can either enter online or fill out an entry form, and post it in. You can register at a stall outside North Bondi Surf Club on Saturday 3rd May from 9am - 12am, or you can register on the race day between 7am - 8am.
How much does it cost?
Please refer to the entry form for the range of entry fees. Open age group is $35. Late Entries are $45.
Toilets
There are public toilets located just to the south of the surf club.
Personal Belongings
Unfortunately we can't take responsibility for the safety of your belongings - it's best to (a) not bring anything of value to the beach and (b) get a friend to watch your stuff whilst you run.
Presentation & Results
The presentation of prizes to the individual and place getters in each age category takes place on the beach in front of North Bondi Surf Club, as soon as possible after the completion of the Barefootbolt. Remember that you have to be at the presentation to collect the prize or this will be re-drawn until the prizes are collected. Full results are available on www.bondibarefoot.com and the NBSLSC websites within a few days.
Where does the money go?
North Bondi SLSC incurs expenses to run the event and also provide prizes, and this is offset by sponsorship and entry fees. The Run Committee and all the safety personnel including doctors provide their time free of charge. Any surpluses from the event assists the Surf Club maintain our voluntary community service obligations.
